Welcome to the Digital Photography Courses Newsletter for December 2011.

So here we are in December once again and yet another year has flown past. We have finished our group courses for 2011, but we are still running private tuition courses, and we start our Beginners Photography Course on 14/15th January 2012. We have also have added an new Creative LIghting Course, an extra portrait course and we are running a night course in late January rather than February.

Photographs for Calendar wanted

I know it's a bit late (or early) to be thinking about a calendar but the suggestion has been made and people are already submitting images to the Facebook group page. Closing Date is Friday 9th December

If you wish to be included (and why wouldn't you?) please upload a photo album of images to the DPC Facebook page and mark them as calendar entries. The entries can be of anthing you like and everyone can enter. I will download all the images and put them all into one big album so members can "Like" their favourites. I will try to get a calendar created as a PDF in time to download before the New Year or we may be able to get one printed out and have it run April to April. Comments please

Photographs for Gallery Exhibition wanted

We are also looking at having an exhibition of images at the Leicester Photographers Gallery. This is the largest dedicated photographic gallery outside of London and it would be fantastc if we could get enough pictures together from Digital Photography Course students to take over the gallery.

Ideally we need 20-30 students to provide five or six pictures each and the exhibition will last for a month. The good news is that you can sell your pictures and the gallery do not take any commission. If I can get enough students to make this viable then the cost would probably be about £40-£50 per person. Most galleries would charge you several £100s to exhibit and then take a hefty 40% commission so this is a real bargain. I'm negotiating a discount to get images printed but I need a rough estimate of numbers first so please let me know if you are interested.

Any pictures submitted for the calendar would probably also be suitable for the gallery.

New Creative Lighting Course

In the new year we will be running a new dedicated Creative Lighting Course for Saturday 11th February 2012. I normally only run this as a 121 day on the professional course so it will be limited to only 3 or 4 students. This course will teach you how to photograph water splashes, rising smoke and spirograh writing with light pictures. This is a Level 2 course so you will need to have attended one of our Beginners Photography Courses first. You will require a camera with a normal zoom lens (or Macro Lens), tripod and a separate flashgun for the shoot but all other equipment is provided.

Refresher Courses

We occasionally get last minute spaces on a beginners course and these can be taken as a refresher course for £75 by anyone who has already attended a beginners course or the AWBC course. Upload your pictures to the Facebook group.

It's nice to see new students upload their images to the Facebook Group but it would be great to see even more. Please do not think your images are not good enough as we are all here to learn and with the support of the group your photography will soon be receiving rave reviews.
